Med Spa Vs. Day Spa What's The Difference-

The term "spa" has become so widely used in marketing that it can be difficult to distinguish between different types of spas and spa services. Two types of spas that are very popular yet also very different are the medical spa (med spa) and the day spa. Many of my Tampa patients select the spa at my plastic surgery practice because they have added peace of mind knowing that their treatments are overseen by a board-certified plastic surgeon. In fact, this direct supervision by a licensed medical professional is the key distinction between a medical spa and a day spa.

Additionally, while some medical spas do have the oversight of a medical professional, many of these professionals are providers who have no formal training in the care of the skin and the anatomy of the face such as family physicians, gynecologists and eye doctors. At Benedetti Cosmetic Surgery, I provide direct supervision of my certified medical aesthetician as well as providing many of the services myself to maximize safety and results.

Feeling Better vs. Getting Better

Day spas offer a variety of aesthetic services geared towards relaxation, pampering, and beauty モンクレール. These treatments typically include massage, waxing, facials, body wraps, manicures and pedicures. Day spas are typically staffed by aestheticians and cosmetologists who provide these services with the goal of making the client feel good and look good in the short term.

Medical spas offer science-based, results-driven procedures such as chemical peels, laser treatments, and injectables such as BOTOX and dermal fillers. Under the supervision of a medical doctor, medical spa treatments are performed for the purpose of achieving measurable improvements without the expense http://www.monclerbrand-japan.com, discomfort, and downtime of surgery. These treatments typically achieve results that last months or even years. Also, these procedures can be done in conjunction with surgical procedures to maximize operative outcomes.

No Such Thing as Bargain BOTOX

In an effort to compete with medical spas, some day spas are pushing the boundaries and offering services such as laser hair removal and BOTOX injections. There is no shortage of "laser centers," which may offer discount pricing due to their minimal training and sometimes inferior technology モンクレール ダウン. And while a day spa may have a nurse practitioner on staff who can legally perform BOTOX injections and filler procedures, it is inadvisable to undergo injections from anyone other than a board-certified plastic surgeon with extensive training with these procedures and the facial anatomy.
A physician, particularly a board-certified plastic surgeon, has a level of specialized training and experience with these powerful treatments that far exceeds a short licensing course. And medical spas are typically staffed by fully trained medical professionals in addition to the supervising physician. These may include registered nurses, licensed medical aestheticians and certified laser technicians.

The Best of Both

Some medical spas offer the best aspects of both a medical spa and a day spa. This is particularly true when the supervising physician places special emphasis on nonsurgical cosmetic care and selects treatments and staff members with the goal of an extremely satisfying patient experience in mind. With the medical knowledge and experience of both a board-certified plastic surgeon and highly qualified medical support staff, patients can feel confident that they are receiving advanced care. This team approach allows patients to relax and enjoy their treatment in the safety of a fully staffed medical facility, and feel confident that their results will be noticeable and lasting.
